Exclamation 911 - Help needed for a stranded brother near Kooskia Idaho

Hey guys, I'm trying to help Rick (FI460) out here. He is near Koosia Idaho (close to Lewiston) and thinks he just grenaded his throwout bearing.

Is there anyone in or near that area that would be able to help? I told him I would post this up and see what I could come up with. Anybody near that area that would be willing or able to help?

Me too. I told him to by pass the clutch safety switch and start it in gear then speed shift it, but I don't know how far he is from home. I've had to do that myself and the shifting is a little tricky. You have to have the engine rpms and road speed just right, then when you have to stop, kick it in neutral and shut it off and start it in gear again to get going. It's not fun, but has gotten me home before.

He just told me he is 12 hours from home, so that idea is out.

I will admit it, I've done that before too. Not for 12 hours, but who knows, if you can get on the highway, he may not have to stop but a couple times for fuel, lol.

No real updates, just that he might have someone who could help him get it changed today. If you want me to send him your number, PM it to me and I'll send him a text. He has cell service, but no data so he can't get on the forum.

Just saw this, that sucks to hear. I'm about 600 miles away, where is he trying to get to? If he needs to go east from where he's at I might be able to help.

Last I have heard he has made it to his destination and is working with a local shop there to get the truck fixed. I'll update if I hear any more, but I think he's good at this point.

Just a post so I can get updates... I'm about 4 hours away. Where is his final destination?

I'm not entirely sure. His cell coverage must be really spotty as well as he has been slow to respond to the texts I have been sending him. I think for right now he is going to try and get it resolved with a shop where he is, and depending on how bad they bend him over the barrel he will decide whether to have them do it for him or to try and do it himself. I'll certainly keep you all updated as I learn more.
