hi im ted a new member. i am restoring a 85 f150. sandblasted frame, all new everything underneath. i did up a 351 windsor(86 block, 69heads) i must mention that i was on a tight budget when i did heads . spent to much and could have bought a am set instead. oh well . i am happy with them .

030 over ,stock crank and rods (good rod bolts)
balanced rotating
kb flats (9.8 to 1 comp.)
comp cam 456/456 dur 268
weiland stealth
heads- ported, 3 angle ,all comp componants, manley valves ,

i need a carb. (suggestions)

rebuilt c6 , 3 55 2500 stall converter.

 

About 300hp.

 

thanks bva. i should mention i have roller tip rocks and i port matched heads and intake. what i could do is sell heads and buy better. i have botttom end for moree. cam ifffy

 

What are the full cam specs? I can do a dyno sim of it but I'd be guessing about the heads and my guess is those heads don't even flow 200cfm. You would definitely gain from aftermarket heads.

 

The Comp cam in the 300 I'm building now has the same lift and duration.

So yeah, a set of AFR heads would probably give you another 50+hp. But you wouldn't notice much difference below 4,000-5,000 rpm. How often do you flog it past 5,000 rpm?

I'm partial to Edelbrock carbs because they generally run right out-of-the-box, are simple and easy to tune if needed. Unless you're spanking it a 600cfm is plenty.

Hey con, if I give you the full specs on my engine could you run a sim for me? I'm estimating It makes around 330-350 hp and somewhere around 400lb-ft. But don't have any real clue.
