Hi All,
I'm Dave and my best friend is a 1986 ford F-150.
I'm in the Edmonton AB area but acquired this little beauty when I lived in SK.
$400.00 to my next door neighbor and I bought a project truck for my two sons and I.
First order of business was to make it run. Well we made it run without much trouble but the project was not simply to make her run so back into the garage and out came the engine.
The engine , 300 inline 6, one barrel carb.
We stripped er down and took the block to a machine shop.
bored the cylinders 0.030 over. shaved the deck and head, new dished pistons, rings, cam, valve job, bearings, gaskets etc, everything including new oil pump.
In addition we bought dual exhaust headers, two Cherry Bombs, Dual port intake manifold equipped to receive a 4 bbl carb.
Tranny rebuilt by a professional well known tranny shop.
Well this has been so far a 6 + year long project.
Now the body...........
The gravel roads in good ol SKtown beat the hell out of my floor boards.
So here I am now , My box is going to the scrap yard and my cab is stripped almost completely bare now .
I have an exact same replacement cab coming ,will do the necessary body work and plan to build a flat deck.
This is supposed to be an introduction so I will leave it at that for now except to say I have been searching for some sort of info on removing the steering column .
If any one know of a thread on here please send me the link as I can't find it. Or advice would be helpful. I have a hanes repair manual but no info what so ever in that . I just want to know if I can pull the wheel and shifter or if the whole column has to come out.
I have never pulled a steering column , is it a spline shaft? if it has to be disconnected completely where is the best place to break it apart?
lot's of reading , so HI and thanks for reading!
Dave
