Just thought someone would like to know how the scuttle is held on our 250's



The lower lip on the scuttle has a row of Christmas tree clips , there's six all together.<br/>These clips also hold a wiring loom on.








The top of the scuttle has #2 Phillip head screws along the screen edge.

If you have to assess the wiper motor this will help in the removal of the scuttle .

Great post - this is particularly relevant if you want to fit electrical chokes around the wiper motor harness and/or wires as a cure for the intermittant stall when wipers are going.

Up-date on the scuttle removal and fit some ferrite chokes to all the wires on the wiper motor.
I'm getting this ready to fit a Elchin or BW CPS in the future.



Once you remove the scuttle you'll see the drivers side wiper mechanism .<br/><br/>It's a lot easier to remove the bonnet to get the scuttle off but can be done with it on .

Pull the 10 mm bolt from the wiper motor , you don't have to remove the motor completely.





Remove the electrical plug, it's under the motor.





Cut the black tape off, this is a protective cover over the conduit.








Five wires , i put chokes on them all.





I cut the loom and lengthen the wires with the same colour wires.








I soldered the new wire on and covered with coloured heat shrink.





All the wires soldered on and fitted with heat shrink , now the ferrite chokes are fitted, i staggered them so they wouldn't be so bulky, also wrapped the wire around twice , just make sure you have enough wire left to join to the loom.<br/>I extended the loom about 400mm longer.





Wrap with good quality black electrical tape , then i'll cover with some water proof heat shrink.<br/><br/>

Where di you source the ferrites?

 

Brian B , i got them from Jaycar , they have a good selection , you should have them over there.

Are they really that much better than the all the other ones.

I put a Delphi one on mine (factory one was still good, now its the spare) after hearing about the stalling issues with some of the BW ones.
I don't have AE so can't give any conclusive results for mine but happy to test the ones I have it if anyone has one and would like to know.

 

Yes i would be happy to see if the the Delphi will pass a CCT and see your Perdels read out, interesting to know i what numbers are on 3 and 8, maybe someone close to you has an AE that can do these test for you.

The Elchins has passed the CCT test and the perdels are all below 1.0, and with the ferrite chokes, there has been no interference with the wipers on intermittent or on, of course you have to fit one F/C on the CPS wiring.

Water proof heat shrink over the chokes





Soldered the wires together and covered them with heat shrink, this i the section I've lengthen.





Just getting ready to tape up .





All wrapped and reconnected.





This was the first attempt to tie the wiring down and found the the wiper mechanism came too close to it .





This is the final resting place for the wiper loom , it has plenty of clearance now , i also put a ferrite choke on the base of the wiring loom over all the wires.<br/><br/>Job done , now to fit some ferrite chokes to the CPS earth and feed wires.
