Any medium duty truck techs in here?

Please, share your story with me.

I'm Jason. I've been a BMW tech for a number of years. Our dealerhsip has a huge franchise with a bunch of brands, Ford inclusive of course.

Our service director saw me working on my van (in signature) saturday and said that they are looking for diesel techs in the medium duty shop.

It sounds interesting but I'd be expecting a good jump in pay to do that.

What kind of things should I expect or look for if I would make this move. All the tools I have now are pretty much catered to BMW stuff and are all metric. I'd have to get training on the Ford stuff but I"m pretty much just trying to come up with questions to ask and what to look for at this point.

Do you guys get compensated pretty well? Staying busy? Thanks in advance!

Would not getting away from Bimmers be reward enough? You can use your metric hand tools on the Furd's. The heavy tools maybe supplied by the shop. Good fortune!

I have to agree 1000% on that getting away from the Bummers.

Actually its probably not the cars nearly as much as the customers.

Haha yeah you guys know.

Seems the oppurtunity has kinda fizzled out. Service manager down there didnt seem too excited to talk to me (or return phone calls for that matter), which is odd considering how much I was told they "need" help.

Guess I'll stay put and comfortable, I've dealt with the bs for 8 years now, whats another decade or two? lol
