My stock rear end (3.92) leaks bad. Got the seal from Mid Fifty. Had my local garage install it... er, try to install it. They could not remove the yoke to install the seal. They tried using a puller, shot it with PB Blaster, hit it with a hammer, etc. Have any of you had this problem in your collective years of experience? Any tips to try?
thanks, abe
I had to press mine out with my homemade press. I made up some special steel tooling to grab the yoke without damaging it. It took about 35,000 lbs if I recall correctly. That bugger was really on there - made a heck of a bang when it let loose.
Earl,
thanks for your info. was your rear off the truck when you pulled the sleeve? Mine is still on the truck and may make it hard to get a press to it.
