THIEVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just posting to blow off a little steam. My wife just purchased her first truck, a 2008 F150 a little over a month ago and she is in love with it. With that being said, she took her weekly shopping trip Saturday afternoon, and while she was in the local Wal-Mart, someone thought that they were free to help themselves to the center caps on the wheels. I am totally P.O.'ed about this. It is a shame that you can't even have a nice vehicle because of thieves. It wasn't even like they were fancy center caps. It has the factory 17" alloys with the plain silver caps with the blue Ford Emblem.
Ok, rant over!

I totally feel your frustration. In 1989 when I bought my brand new Mercedes. The car was only 2 weeks old and I went to pickup my wife for lunch. I parked the car just outside her office. I went in for 15 minutes and when I came out, the star on the hood was gone. When I purchased a replacement, the parts department told me they lost over 30 of this in their lot.
I don't think they are looking for the metal. I think they are just kids with nothing better to do than PO others.

The 250 I bought new from dealer had the tail gate stolen while on the lot. Tail gate has rear camera and pull out step. Drove around with a "borrowed" tail gate until matching gate came in. Was warned to always lock tail gate.
Sorry to hear about your loss. Purchase an aftermarket alarm with motion sensor.

my boss tells how when he was a cop at the University of Houston a guy who owned a body shop would drive around the campus in a Dodge Diplomat with the passenger seat removed and steal tailgates without even getting out of his car, drive up, pop then tailgate off, slide it in through the window, drive away. This was the mid 90's however.
