351w efi intake suggestion?

Okay guys I'm slowly but surely preparing for a 351 swap into my 1990 ford f-150 that currently has a 302 in it, now I've done some looking and while I would like to stay efi I've heard the stock intakes are real restrictive however for the efi 351w and I'd need to get an intake regardless for the engine I'm about it get (its a carb engine) if i went with efi but I'm kinda lost on which one to get or if there is one I can just grab from a junkyard for cheap off of another truck or a car that flows good for these engines. Any suggestions are welcome and sorry if I'm a little low on info but this is kinda the big killer on where my build will end up going in the future or if it will even get a 351 in there and i don't just sell the engine to the next guy along. Thanks in advance, Shadow.

The only OEM intake that will fit a 351 and is better then the truck intake is that which came on the early 90's Lighting pickups and the very rare 1995R Mustang Cobra. The lower half is what you need as there are at least 4-5 upper intakes that will bolt on that are all Ford OEM.
These are hard to find even though Ford did sell a lower half for the 351 in their Motorsports line of parts. It might be discontinued.

The aftermarket does sell a number of 351 intakes but nowhere near the number available for the 302. Any of them will flow better then the POS OEM 351 truck intake.

Yeah that does sound about like I expected. My thing is with the aftermarket intakes is that some places want 600 dollars for an intake and right now with my budget I just can't really justify 600 dollars just for an intake when I still need to invest some money in a maf swap for the truck anyways if I drop the engine in and various other stuff that I may or may not need. Would there be any way to port the stock intake to not make it a huge restriction and put an larger sized throttle body on it or is that more of a pipe dream that would end up costing me close to the same as a good efi intake?

The TB is not restrictive so don't worry about that, there is lots of material in the stock lower for porting so you can get by with it for the time being and replace it later.
Aftermarket options would include the Professional Products Typhoon which is often available for around $400 for the satin finish.

You could always do it the hard way...just don't do the swap until you can get all of your parts accumulated that you actually want(not just the parts you can "get by with").
I say the hard way because nobody likes to wait, but its usually the best way. Good luck.

Hard way is an option that I might end up having to do at this rate, I thought about just using the carb intake that is comming with this engine and swaping a carb into the truck but heck just one of those is 300 bucks alone and at that point I might as well save my bucks buy the intake Conanski suggested stay fuel injected.

Alright bringing back my own dead thread to answer a few more questions. Alright so my first question is will the 5.0 brackets bolt up to the 351 and line up with no issues? Different size belt I'm not worried about but I need to know if anything changed between the two just enough to have to go with picking one off another engine. Secondly can the stock 5.0 cam work in a 351? I would think it would be firing order changed back to the 302 firing order and it would all be good other than lifters and breaking them in but I feel like something is being left out (yes I know the stock cam is junk on these trucks but just throwing it out there in case I get in a bind and have to just put it together and just make it run good enough to move around). Now speaking of the dizzy can the 5.0 dizzy work with the 351? My is still relating to the engine but more just a piece of mind thing, does the a/c hose that connects the the compressor on these trucks the same on both the 351 and the 5.0? I'm asking that one because I found my old hose leaks and I kinda need A/C this summer and would rather not get the 90 dollar hose and find out later I need to get another 90 dollar hose to keep it working when I do the swap. Here's another good one that may of been answered already but can the stock 5.0 computer handle a 351 with the added displacement given I'm not going insane with power? Sorry if some of these questions are silly but I gotta make sure so I have a good list on what to go looking for next once I get the engine at the house and on a stand. I still plan to put some power adders in this engine but right now the 302 is showing signs of wanting to give up the ghost (oil leaks all over the engine and just little things that are annoying me to death). I can afford to have the truck down since I have other vehicles to drive but I'd rather it not sit and rust in the yard for months while I mess around getting performance part this and performance that. Thanks for understand and helping once more, Shadow

distributors are different between the two, different deck heights. Cam will fit, I'm not 100% positive on the brackets question.

Makes sense, I read another post on this forum somewhere saying it was the same but can't seem to find it again. Might grab a set of brackets from the junkyard when I go since I need a few various other parts for it anyways.

Accessory brackets fit both motors or at least brackets from the EFI motors do, if you look closely you should see 2 bolt holes where it mounts on the water pump.
