Fuel Tank Takes FOREVER To Fill

I bought a 97 f250 a while back, it has an aftermarket plastic tank on it, but when i try and fill it up at home on our farm or anywhere else, i set the nozzle to the first setting (the slowest) and it will pump for a second and then automatically shut off, and it does this every time. The quickest way to fill it is by using jerry cans, and that still takes a long time, i checked the angle of the hose it looks fairly level, maybe a slight incline in the rubber hose but not much.
My parents 96 f250 has never had this problem, it has a metal tank though? could that be my issue?

My tank is plastic as well. I'm pretty sure it's stock. Some of these trucks fill horribly. Look up harpoon mod or hutch mod. It's worked well for some but not for others. I did a variation of it on my rear tank and am fairly happy with it

Well i already fixed it, turns out when they put the aftermarket tank on, the inner hose in the fuel pipe caught on the edge of the opening of the tank, and who ever put it back together and just forced it, and the inner fuel line was still caught on the opening of the tank. The hose then kinked because it was too long.
So i just removed the three bolts that hole the filler neck up, and the two hose clamps on the line, pulled out small hose from the larger one, cut the smaller hose about 2" shorter on the end that goes into the tank, put a bunch of grease on the outside of the hose so that it would slide in easier, reassembled everything and it worked perfectly!!

My tanks hate automotive diesel sized nozzles... These fillernecks are made for commercial nozzles. When/if you can still find them, they fill perfectly. But they're slowly fading away.

I've had the opposite luck with the big filler nozzles, the foam backs up in the filler neck and in turn shoots diesel out all over the ground. (I have yet to find a truck nozzle that has an automatic shutoff).

I have to just slowly fill, then trickle it in for the last couple gallons. It's a pain, but it works for me. Mine has metal tanks that are as far as I know, stock.
