What Happened?
Yesterday morning went to Sam's Club and got $60.00 worth of regular unleaded and immediately my 2010 4x4 had little power taking off. Seemed to have hardly no power until I got up to speed. Then later in the day I started it up and lots of blue then black smoke came out of the tailpipe. Any chance something other than the gas may have went out at the same time. I plan to have it towed to the dealer tomorrow to have them look at it to see if they can tell if it's the gas. I just bought this truck 2 months ago. Really like it and I hope it's not messed up. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Tanker driver could have filled the wrong tank with the wrong stuff when he delivered. Seen it happen before. Keep an ear out and see if anyone else is having a problem there. Just because the receipt says regular doesn't mean the tanker didn't put something else in their tanks.

In addition to what LM14 posted about wrong stuff / wrong tank ...
Sounds like you got $16.00 worth of diesel fuel or diesel fuel mix.
SAVE YOUR RECEIPT in case the dealership's diagnostics indicates a fuel issue. In which case the station would be at fault and liable for all expenses.

I will see what the dealer says tomorrow and will post the findings. Thanks for the replies. Sure hope its not serious. It was running great before i got the gas. I did not have much gas in it when I added what ever it was.

And the winner is!
All of you. Sam's Club called me said there is an issue. Had me call the transit company said the driver put a unit of diesel in the regular unleaded tank! What a dumb ssssssttttt! Dealer is working on it now. Hope I don't have problems because of it in the future! Thanks to all.

Keep track of every single penny spent on this repair. Lost time, car rental if needed, shop expenses, mileage and anything else you have spent a single penny on and turn it in to Sam's Club to pay.
Don't let them try to push you to the tanker company. They retailed the gas, they are responsible. They need to make it right with you and then they can go after the tanker company. I've seen this happen before.
Good luck. I would be surprised if you see a lingering problem but be sure the dealer does a complete job of removing fuel and flushing everything, replacing filters, etc.

This can get very expensive
A dodge minivan came in my shop with a load of diesel in it and that was a real project to get it straitened out. The tank must be removed and completely wiped clean and most of the time it ruins any filters and possibly the injectors. Station paid for the whole thing...

Dealer Says
Talked to the Ford dealer about my truck and they said they got 3 more vehicles in with the same problem from the same pumps. The plan on all 4 vehicles are to remove the fuel tanks, empty the tainted gas then clean the tank. Mine will get a new fuel pump because the filter is built in the pump inside the tank. They will flush all fuel lines and clean the fuel injectors and replace the spark plugs. Then they will drive the vehicles to assure that there are no problems. I asked about the catalytic convertor and they said they will be able to tell during the test drive. I feel pretty good about the shop working on my truck. One thing that Sam's saves on this deal is that I have my son's car to drive so there is no charge for a rental vehicle. I may get it back tomorrow if the new fuel pump comes in. Thanks for listening. PS this made the local news in Kansas City this evening.
