Clink and Clunk goes the Drivetrain

Hi guys, gotta post this thread and then will be trying to help anyone I can who are posting issues I know about.

When putting auto trans in R or P I would hear a big clink or sometimes a loud bang! Yesterday I replaced the front and rear Ujoints and problem seems "fixed". However, when looking at the trans crossmember mount I noticed the transmission itself is rotated to the right and is not sitting level with the transmount.?!
Is engine torque + a bad bushing the cause of this? Looking at the back of trannny the left side is about 1inch above the crossmember (bushing) and the right side is squashed down even with the crossmember- like on that side the bushing is compressed?

I don't think it looks right and could this be the cause of the front Ujoint failing prematurely?
Thanks for any help!

Yes, I would say engine torque was the beginning of the problem. And you may have a bad engine mount now. Put the truck in gear and with you foot on the brake give it some throttle and watch to see of the engine lifts (or have someone watch for you) if the engine lifts up a bunch you'll know you have a bad mount. A broken (or worn out) engine mount would cause the engine to rotate more than it should and that would put extra load on the transmission mount too. Over time the transmission mount will then wear out.

Had the same problem with mine. Just looking at it, I knew it couldn't be doing anything under there any good. Both engine mounts were toast, though you didn't really know how bad until I took them out and they fell apart. Took a bit of strong-arming with a 5 foot bar and a jack and block of wood under the front pulley to get the drivetrain rotated back to level and centered between the mount perches. ~Bill
