460 gas mileage?

I'm looking at a 1991 f-250 4x4 with a fuel injected 460, but I'm a little afraid of what the gas mileage will be, compared to say the 351 or 302, can anyone tell me what to expect, there seems to be conflicking reports on this sometimes, some say the 460 doesn't have to work as hard, but is that true, how about the 3/4 ton factor? any input would be appreciated, I have a 460 in my 1977 f-150 4x4 mild cam, that thing is a pig on gas

I would have to say that hwy mileage is going to be about the same with the 351 vs. 460. In town with my 460 I am lucky to get 10mpg. Gearing seams to make all the difference. Also a topper helps hwy mileage alot.

460 gas mileage?

I have a 94 F250 heavy duty with super cab and long bed and a shell. 4x4 460 E4OD and 4.10 gears.

On a mixed drive with no stop and go I will average between 11 and 12mpg. It almost doesn't matter how I drive it, the mileage stays about the same. With an 8,000# trailer I get about 8-9mpg on flats and it drops down into the 5-6 in hills.

That is my experience.

460 gas mileage?

96 F-350 Super Cab dually, 460 FI, 4.10 rear, 4 speed AOD.

I get about 10 around town, 11.5-12 on the highway and about 7.5-8 towing an 8500 lb or so enclosed 28 foot race car trailer. If I pull big hills the mileage goes down to about 6.5-7 when towing.
