300 vs 3.7 litre V6

I have a 92 F150 with a 300 engine. It's getting old and tired and I'm considering a new truck with a 3.7 litre V6. My other option is to drop a rebuilt 300 in my old truck. Does anyone out there who has gone to the 3.7 have an opinion on the new motor vs. their old one?

The new 3.7L engine/transmission combo will significantly out perform the old 300I6 platform and I'd bet it would also do significantly better on gas overall. Kinda hard to compare these two as they share nothing in common, but the new trucks do drive and handle much much better so this would be an upgrade on many levels.
