460 block with no casting numbers ( 460 ?)
Greetings from Nevada.
I had the opportunity to purchase a new Scat Steel Crank, 4.500 stroke. The guy also threw in a block he was going to build with this crank. The numbers of 572ci grabbed my attention. Anyway...
The block has no casting numbers, the freeze plugs are threaded and the block has 4 bolt mains. The outside bolts are smaller than the bolts that would be normal 2 bolt fashion.
There is a random "3" on one side and maybe, if I remember right, a "1".
That's it !! What do I have here ?? I took a crude measurement, with a tape measure, of the bores diameter. Just shy of 4.500

Ford trucks. Welcome to FTE.
Most 460 inquiries here are how to get better mpg, how to fix, pass smog, or make serious horsepower without actually doing anything serious to the engine.
Not many with custom blocks, which is what I would bet you have there. See if you can match it up features wise:
Eliminator Performance Products Premier Engine Block
The only other block I found was Ford SVO or racing, which is bound to have a Ford id on it. Discussion here:
Eliminator ultra vs. A-460 block ?'s - 460 Ford Forum
Which, by the way, takes you to "all 460 all the time", where you might get more info on your block. Maybe.
There are a couple guys here who have raced these motors, so stand by you may get more responses, as your thread is back to the top.
Good luck with it!
