Dash panel removal on 2013?

I am looking to remove the panel that goes around the gauge cluster. I am trying to see if there is room on the left side to put a gauge in there for my air bags. Ok, here is a picture. It's to the right of the light dimming switch, that open tan spot between it and the steering column.

I haven't had mine apart before (yet), but I'd start with that lower panel and work my way up. You should be able to pull that one off pretty easily and at least get a look at what's in there.

I tore into it today. Got the piece removed and there was a plastic dash structure piece there. No biggie. I cut out what I need for room and it's still plenty strong.

I can't believe I cut into a brand new dash... was I sweating bullets.

Here is a pic of the cut out.

I'm glad I put it there.. the light in the gauge is pretty bright.. and during most conditions it's right behind the cruise portion of the steering wheel.. so the brightness doesn't come into play.

I kinda wish my cng gauge was there instead of where it is. The installers removed the 12v plug to the right of the radio and put the gauge there.
