Good morning woodchucks and imposters. Gonna rain today. Got to go see my mom today - 93 years old today. Just hope she's aware enough today to know it - dementia sucks. I don't wish it on anyone. The person you knew just sort of disappears. Have a good day.

Just read a little article about that the Mayo clinic did. They found if you keep your mind stimulated intellectually it can be avoided for years. And it didn't matter what education level or job level. Just need to exercise your brain to keep it in shape

Mom did pretty well at that - 3 masters degrees, one at 50. She was pretty sharp right up until about 5 years ago. She had a mini stroke that really slowed her down, then had to move to assisted living and now is in a nursing home.
Just tough to live this long when you hoped (expected) to die at home. She never would have expected to be in a nursing home but life can sometimes be cruel.
Not a great visit today. She woke up enough to have a little cheesecake (her favorite) and some fresh strawberries. She knew it was us but that was about it. No conversation or awareness that it was her birthday. More like a 3 year old than a 93 year old. Like I said, life can sometimes play cruel tricks on you.
