Hi
I have a 56 with a 272 2 bbl. there is a 4 bbl intake on CL part # ECZ-9425-A. does anyone know if it will fit or where I can find if it will?

Thanks for the help

1954/56 Y blocks used the 4V Holley 'teapot' carb. The teapot and its intake manifold mounting holes are different than the 1957 and later 4V manifolds that used the Holley 4V 'double pumper.'

ECZ-9425-A is not the manifold's part number, it's the casting number which cannot be cross referenced to a part number, so I have no idea what year it's for.

Odd duck: 1955 272/292 4V: The automatic choke is mounted on the intake manifold, not on the carburetor!

Thanks Number. I forgot to add the seller says it's off a 56 y block 292. Should it work on a 272?

All of the intakes with the "A" after the casting # that I have seen have the small carb pattern. Modern 4 bbls won't work on those. They were for early Y blocks as ND said.
I have one of them you can have if you really want one.

Thanks Tin,
Are the older 4v not that good? Do you have the carb or the intake? Is it worth a swap?

If the manifold is the 1956 original, it will work, but, you don't want it!

The only carb that will fit it...is the gawd awful Holley teapot. Where will you find one and the apropos linkage?

The following is the carb you want. This carb (and intake manifold) were introduced in 1957.

4V manifold: 1957 Ford/Mercury/Thunderbird 292/312 - 1958/61 Mercury 312.

The Holley 4V double pumper is EZ to find as it was also used on cars with 289/352/390/406/427.

EDIT: See post 9 for the teapot.

Scott, you want the ecz-9425-b , fits the modern carbs. You'll also want to change your distributor to the 1957 and up style so you have centrifugal advance and vacuum advance. I have 3 of those b intakes I'm in Pa. Dennis

1956 Holley 4V "Teapot." When it got this nickname I dunno, it was called the toilet bowl at one time...for a good reason.

You can buy an adapter to change from the teapot style carb mount to the Holley. Speedway has them for under $30. Then you have a cheap intake with a newer Holley.

Correct, but, now you have a 4v set up that flows about as well as a 2v set up

The "B" intake is a night and day improvement over the "A" intake

Just offering possibilities. Best solution is a blue thunder but hey it's a 272 not a stroker
