I would like to change the sound of my exhaust but keep the price down. I was thinking of adding a flowmaster to my single exhaust but all of the shops around here say not to change it because you will not like the sound, that it does not create the V8 sound because of the compression and the stroke of the V10. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to create the low, loud tone like the V8s in a small budget?
Hey Radioman,
I have a V-10 with a Flowmaster 40 series on my truck. It is a single in a dual out. I love the sound. It doesn't sound like a V-8 b/c of the timing. The exhaust pulses are totally different. Anyway, my truck sounds like a V-8 just when at idle, but it has that INDY car sound when you stomp on it. I like it. I have a crew cab and it is a little noisy around 45-50mph inside the cab but highway speeds it quiets down. Mine sounds a little throatier than some I've heard b/c of my 4"x18" slash tips. There is a single in/out Flowmaster too. I know it's hard to chose what exhaust, but I went through that before with several other brands of exhaust. I've tried a few others, but Flowmaster was the cheapest and best sounding to me. You can check out some of my pics on my gallery page to see the muffler. I'm sure you'll get a bunch of different opinions about it.
i just installed a flomaster 50 series, single in, dual out and it's great. nice sound at idle, and beyond, without the annoying resonance i had with a spintech (that i took off after a few weeks because it was unbearable at cruise speeds...)
