How much is my catalytic converter worth?

Hey all,
Just wondering how much my catalytic converter is worth, and where I should take it to scrap it.
It's from a 1990 f250 7.5L. It's the stock cat and still worked fine when I took it out. Nothing wrong with it at all, just old.

Those big Ford cats are worth about $65-$110 depending on the scrap yard.

Around here $10-20

The high paying ones are the newer foreign cars with Platinum in them

Nah, the 460 cats are usually worth over $50 because they're gigantic.

A lot of yards don't take cats unless you provide a receipt or a title proving the vehicle is being destroyed/junked.

But if you can prove the cat came off your truck, it shouldn't be much issue.

Same here in South west Fla area. They will not pay for a converter unless you have a title with it. They will gladly will take it off your hands though....!! I will not just give them a $100 bill! I put it back in my truck and took it back home and knocked the guts out of it. Next time I gladly gave it to them LOL! I can't even scrap a door now too with out a title at one place! Its a joke to scrap things now days, you must prove ownership an everything due to crooks steeling and scrapping.

Took a few left over plumbing and fittings parts in for scrap an they scanned my driver's license, noted my license plate and make/model/color of my car.

No thumbprint or retina scan yet...

A few crooks ruin it for everyone else. Scrap aluminum, bronze, copper and steel had big price swings, along with silver and gold. So everything not nailed down is fair game. If some scrofulous type shows up at a yard with 182 VFW grave markers, it should raise eyebrows. They get away with it sometimes., high school bleachers, street lamps, all kinds of stuff.

Catalysts use platinum or palladium. While people stealing them get twenty bucks, the owner gets to shell out $900 to get everything set straight it's a big problem.

Ill just take it in regardless, $10, or $110 it doesn't really matter, ill just be happy to get rid of the thing. Some money is better than no money at all.

I'm in HVAC, so I scrap all the time and the yards I go to have been claiming to be cracking down by requiring ID's and capturing license plates etc. Yeah... Ok. The other day when I was there a guy was scrapping full, 1,000' rolls of electrical wire. Two 14/2, 12/2 and 10/2. I've heard they'll sell it to you for just over scrap price which is a screaming deal, but I don't want to be buying stolen goods...
