Left hand TYPE 5 was the standard equipment mirror, but was not factory installed. It was placed inside the cab at final assembly.
It was not factory installed because if the purchasers wanted another type of mirror, the holes in the door would have to be filled in and the door spot painted.
Because of this, the dealers installed all the outside mirrors.
Finding old pics of my truck with the original mirrors is hard since I swapped to the swing arm style a few months after I bought the truck. This picture is a little small, but you can see the "type 5" mirrors on the truck.

Yes, I have the swing-arm style mirrors. What mirrors, could be placed in the truck by the factory for an 85' F150?

So, you purchased the truck new w/these mirrors or? Why did you switch to the sing-arm style?

I didn't buy the truck new since it's 12 years older than me, but they are the original ones to the truck.
I swapped to the swing-arm style because I liked them better. The paddle and type 5 mirrors don't have a large surface area, so you can't see much through them.
