IIRC Marv (SpringerPop) also runs a 2 micron Dahl prepump with no fuel pressure issues.

My current setup is the unloved Carter/Oreilly pump (2nd one in 4 years) and the Fram G3 everyone hates. No complaints on performance, but maybe I would if I had a fuel pressure gauge. Got a pn for the Walbro?

GSL392 is the part number for the Walbro pump you need. Order it with the install kit that includes an insulation sleeve and 2 fittings w/ copper washers that you will need. If you do not need barb fittings, the threads in the pump are M10x1.0mm. You can get AN to metric adapter fittings for this if you're using AN style fittings or you can get the barb fittings from the walbro install kit.

Just a reminder. The Walbro is not rated for diesel fuel, so there is no warranty on it. If it fails, you're buying another pump. I've had the Walbro in my OBS for 2 years now with no failures yet, but others have had failures in less time in the past. This pump is basically a toss up as far as reliability goes IMO. I gambled and it has paid off IMO.

I thought the GSL392 wasn't diesel rated?

On another note, for guys wanting to run a simple in-line filter like the Fram G3, I found a solution in an old thread:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...el-filter.html

I am curious though, has anyone considered this filter?
Wix 33310 & Napa 3310 Fuel Filter: FleetFilter Secure Online Store

I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work, minus not having a clear housing. Bonus having 3/8" barbs though!

Thanks for the PN and tips S&T! Lots to consider. The other players on my draft board are the Bosch 044 and the OE Bosch.

That fits the bill except for the ability to eyeball the condition. If I ever see a clear diesel rated strainer with 3/8 barbs I'll buy it. Might as well be a unicorn.

Read my post. In the last paragraph I made sure to warn anyone reading that the pump isn't diesel rated and because of this it has no warranty.........

No problem. I've been wanting to put a Bosch 044 pump in something. Maybe when my SD pump gets weak I will try one out. Budget bit me when I needed a pump for my OBS, that is how I ended up with a Walbro. Since then I haven't found anyone willing to spend the coin on the Bosch 044 on the trucks I've done fuel systems on. Budget reasons on those as well. If the budget is there, I'd say try out the Bosch 044. If you need to save a little money, do a Walbro and keep your stock pump as a back up if the Walbro fails.

Gah, sorry I see it now. I don't know how I missed it.

Long hours at work are kicking my ***, I'd lose track of my own head if it wasn't attached.

Thanks for all the info btw, I'm going to be doing the hutch mod this weekend. My fuel pressure has been fluttering anytime I get below half a tank of fuel. I figure it is time.

I don't know what filter F350-6 uses, but I use Wix 33972 before my Airtex E2236 pump.

Well since it was a Balwdin engineer I talked with (still surprised a little you can just call up a big company like Baldwin and get transferred to an engineer for a nice chat about what filter to use), I of course went with a Baldwin filter.

Here's what it catches when your pick up foot starts to fall apart.

David Lott apparently had the same conversation as this is the same filter he sells in his hutch kit.

F350-6 Do you remember in the conversation with the Baldwin engineer what the GPH flow rating might be?

It's way more than we need for our trucks. Compare this filter to the stock fuel filter and it's not much more than a screen. Which is what the engineer said I needed. The goal was something to protect the fuel pump from large debris, but something small enough that would trap particles smaller than the inlet screen on the fuel pump so the pump didn't become clogged up.

Besides, how many gallons per hour of fuel can your truck consume before you can no longer afford to drive it?

Look in my Sig I think my pre filter is there. Tugly and I used the same thing I cannot remember the name but it is awesome. I tried one of those little plastic filters but it was too flimsy for me. If its not in my Sig search for pre filter. There are a few threads about this particular filter.

The filter F30-6 is using looks like the wix 33007 which is the "other" filter mentioned in my signature.
33007 is smaller than 33972..

http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...&keyword=33007
$3.49
Micron rating 50

http://www.oreillyauto.com/site/c/de...&keyword=33972
$10.49
Micron rating 140
