Im in michigan and it has been raining every day for about a week and a half. I believe the batteries were just drained because the interior cab lights were left on one night.

First make sure your batteries are good, 7.3's will do strange things when the batteries are low epically while cranking.

Sometimes electrical gremlins can be very frustrating. If things are working then not working, I would disconnect both batteries for a couple of hours to clear everything out of the computers and then reconnect and start from scratch on the symptoms. Even though they are different systems, sometimes electronics do weird things and need to be put in "time out" for a bit to reset and start over.

Also really check out under dash for water. Also see if carpet is wet.

Sometimes clearance lights or windshield can leak getting the Gem wet making it go haywire

Sorry about the slow response to the help. We have had some pretty crazy weather here in michigan. I replaced the oil sensor and that seemed to fix the oil light. One of my batteries has a dry cell so I am going to try and get that replaced.

I do have rust around my clearance lights, they do leak a little bit I am going to try and address that over the weekend.

I now have to get the abs code scanned.

I'm not trying to impose anything by any means but I recommend that any time you replace a battery, you replace both. It is very common for an older (weaker/damaged/faulty) battery to shorten the life of a new battery.

Man, I was looking at the rust around the clearance lights and its even worse than I had assumed. Rust has put holes in the roof around each light. It looks like im going to have to remove them and ad metal to the roof some how.

I plan on having the roof finished this weekend. I am also hoping to resolve the abs light issue too.

I will report back with my findings.

I hope some people are still following this. Sorry I just started a new job and I go to school so my life has been crazy. After the windshield install and fixing the roof the truck looks great.

I still have the abs problem:
code: c1145
right front wheel sensor input circuit failure

and my airbag light is on and my speedometer light doesnt work.

I cant get a break...

You could try to clean the connections at the wheel well, check the sensor wire for problems/cracks, remove the sensor and inspect for crud build up.

I have removed the dash, I inspected all the bulbs, I even took a look at the wiring and didnt notice anything unusual. I will look into the sensor if that is different.

I just checked all the fuses again, and I also checked the switch, I cant tell if its good or bad, but it looks good to me... I also checked the horn relay. If there is a sensor I am missing, I am not familiar with it, could you tell me where it is located.

I have found that the 2 orange dimmer wires are not connected to wires on my radio, but the radio wiring harness does not have matching wires to connect them...

Sorry Mitch, I was referring to your ABS code c1145. I've attached a write up from Bob's site on wheel bearing maintenance. The first couple steps show the abs electrical connector in the fender well, as well as removing the sensor it-self. You don't have to remove the entire hub to clean the connector or sensor. Hope this helps.

Good on you to take on a project truck and bring it back to life !!!

You are MUCH more industrious than I am - and obviously more talented

Take advantage of free scans at places like Autozone - they will bring the scanner out to your truck to scan it...

also they have a tool loaner program for specialty tools... never took advantage of it, but have heard others do it while in the store...
