Restoring the windshield channel, parts?

Hi guys!

Thank you SO MUCH for all the help and advises so far Took it for the first spin this year after paint and interior wash dried/finished...Man, I love this truck!!!

Next project is removing all the rust around the outside channels, new seals and rubber. Gonna take the doors off and the front windshield is coming out.

Have an orderlist at LMC that’s waiting for confirmation.

Question: Wich rubber seal do I order fo my -73, 250? I am not sure but telling myself option ”B” is the right one?

Options are:
  • "A" WITHOUT GROOVE FOR CHROME TRIM.
  • "B" WITH GROOVE FOR WIDE MOLDED CHROME TRIM.
  • "C" WITH GROOVE FOR NARROW FLEXIBLE CHROME TRIM.

Yes you want " B " . you have the wide molded trim.

When you go to reinstall the windshield it's going to be a real treat with that trim. if you can find an experienced glass guy I'd get him . I'm not sure how it used to be with the original gaskets but with the repops it's a challenge.

Before you remove the doors use a sharpie or a scribe and trace/mark the door to hinge placement. Makes reinstallation time WAY easier. And you are leaving the hinge on the truck and just unbolting the door correct? FYI the door is heavy you can roll the window a bit and use a cherry picker to make it easier.

Also great time to replace the door pins if they are worn out.

Yes "B" is the seal you need.

The only rust I had on my entire pickup was a couple pin holes in the rear window channel. you might want to take a look at that too.
