New Stereo wiring dilemma

http://support.alpine-usa.com/produc...940_AUD_EN.pdf

Wiring diagram....It looks like I have to hook up the parking brake and foot brake wires to the head unit for operation. I cant access the general set up menu unless they're hooked up. The parking brake I can just ground,(I think) but can I just ground the brake wire as well?

Thanks in advance....I got two subs behind the back seat that I cant turn on without that general menu....

I wasn't able to open the Alpine PDF; my browser quit after about 3 MB. However, I think you should be able to fake out the parking and service brake signals as long as you know what polarity the Alpine is looking for. If it wants to see 0V for the bakes to be set then connect to ground, if it wants to see 12V then connect to BAT or IGN. There might be a polarity selector in the set-up to allow for use in different vehicles.

The vast majority of parking brakes ground when set. Our trucks have a 2 pole brake position switch that supplies +12V when the regular brakes are applied. One pole operates the brake lights and the other supplies 12V or ground to the ABS, PCM, GEM and shift lock actuator.

Here is the wiring diagram:

I know Kenwood units you can just put that wire to ground with no problem. Pioneer units however, need to have a delay of a few seconds before it detects ground. Therefore, if it is wired straight to ground, it will not work. I've had one buddy who just ran the brake wire to a switch, so he could just switch it. Another friend of mine wired his to something on his Amp that had a delay before it grounded.

I used a parking brake bypass for my pioneer similar to this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005SV...&robot_redir=1
I am sure a similar one is made for your head unit.

My Pioneer AVIC I used a existing wire bypass. It was just switching the wires in the back of the harness. Google your make and model and bypass fix see what happens

Well, after hooking it up correctly and doing the 'special procedure' of playing with the brake pedal I called my local shop. He recommended, and I purchased a TR-7 bypass relay kit. He said it is really the only way to have all the functions while moving and stopped. I'll wire it up in the am...Still no bass.....

Yeah that's why I didn't mess around with it. Once the head unit was in I didn't want to take it out again. The reviews were really good for the parking brake bypass and it was cheap so I just picked one up. Sounded like the pioneer required some specific requirements to bypass and it was really easy.
