2007 expedition miss/rough/no idle

Hi all. Havent been on in a looooong time.

First of all, truck is a 2007 expedition EL 2wd with 202k on the ticker. When i first started looking at the truck it would barely run, sounded like 4 cylinders we deactivated and would stall randomly. I checked codes and almost all of them were from coils and misfires. So they were all replaced with motorcraft.

Now down to 7 codes from 17. Truck had a iat code, so i looked and found a wire broken on the maf connector. Ordered a pigtail from ford and rewired.

Down to 2 codes from seven. Still running like dog poo when i decided to check intake/gaskets for leakage, low and behold the manifold was cracked and had holes in it. Ordered a new one with gaskets and installed. Truck ran ok until it got to op ten then started shaking and coughing and died.

Still at 2 emissions codes, one for evap purge, and another for evap system pressure sensor. Crawler under truck to find one wire broken on purge, rewired and reassembled.

Down to one code. Truck not starting without foot on accelerator. Changed fuel filter as some suggested. Now when the truck is started it wont idle but runs fine above 2000 rpms.

Please help on what to test and where and etc. Tearing my hair out because of frustration with this thing.

Ps. Had coolant hoses break after plugs but before manifold, soaked entire pass side cyl banks in coolant. Cleaned as best i could.

Now my question is, this thing keeps switching between open and closed loop operation. When in closed loop it runs really bad. Open it runs a bit better not by much. Could one bad catalytic converter cause this?

P.s.s. thanks in advance for the help!!

Now that you are down to one code, what is that code?

Have you checked the fuel system? Fuel pressure? Pulled the plugs back out to read the color for mixture issues caused by bad injectors?

Just some ideas to look at if you haven't already.

Issue found. Bent valves and at leas one broken. Found a valve stem in the bottom of the old intake as i was moving it today.

Should have done a compression test as soon as i pulled number 2 spark plug to find the end ofit all chewed up. Stupid me.

Looks like its time to rebuild or replace the engine.

expedition stalling

I have an Expedition that stalled at idle with ac on and over bumps, after chasing fuel problems then battery and ground connections I found a wire to the crankshaft sensor half broken and with wires just touching so over bumps and engine shaking the connection made and broke causing random shutdowns and stalls. Hope this helps.
