Holley 460 carb on 390?
I finally got my 73 F-250 highboy home yesterday and I am wanting to get the truck running. upon checking everything over yesterday I discovered that the motorcraft 4bbl carb is all gumed up from sitting so long. The manual choke only moves so much and when you step on the gas pedal the throttle doesn't even move. If I move the throttle arm by hand it will open but not when you step on the gas, all the linkages are connected. So my question is can I put my Holley 460 4bbl carb on my 390 motor? Or do I physically have to take apart the 390 motorcraft 4bbl carb and throuly clean it?
Thanks,
~Hunter

Your original carb is the Autolite 4100, right?
I love those things, simpler than the Holley, almost nothing that can go wrong, comparatively speaking. I took one that had been sitting 25+ years and rebuilt it for my Comet. It was completely seized. Took quite a bit of work, but it is an excellent carb.
