Making my 65 F100 turn heads
Hi everyone,
I'd like to share with you all some of the things I've modified on my truck for a one of a kind and unique look.
Firstly, I couldnt deal with the cardboard headliner. So it took me about a year of thinking it out and I came out with this: I bought a rectangular sheet of crackled styrene light unit cover (like in those drop ceiling offices) and used my old headliner as a template. I cut the styrene to shape, then I installed some thin Styrofoam sheets from Home Depot to insulate and reflect. OK, then I found several strings of 12v Xmas lights. I installed 100 lights in total. secured everything with aluminum tape to conceal the wires of the lights and mounted up the styrene. YES, I have a starfield for a headliner. Thats just the first of many modifications Ive done.
Next, I popped out my side emblems, cut out an elongated oval roughly the size of the plastic insert. I rigged up a line up of bulbs, stripped the paint (the little they still had) and found translucent red glass paint. Painted the inserts, hand worded the 'TWIN I BEAM' lettering and BAM! side marker lights!
additionally I I found a flexible red string light no thicker than the a skinny straw youd find to mix a cocktail with and wrapped it around my front hood emblem. I naturally needed to loosen the emblem to tuck the sting so it cant be seen. So, all it casts is a eerie red glow when you see the emblem from the side.
OK, Ive donr plenty more but I dont wanna **** anyone off by going on and on.
Thoughts? Thanks
