Exclamation 03 f150 trans removal

Hey guys, I have a 98 f250LD with an 03 5.4 motor and trans. The tranny has been giving me grief and I believe a shift fork went. I put it into gear and it just doesn't move. Then when I go to put it into park it grinds like a b**ch.... I have the tranny that I pulled from the truck (98 one) with the stick shift 4wd. I wanna just swap trannys and be done with it just, so looking on here to find the best procedure to do so. I need this truck fixed and going before the weekend's up as I need it for work! Please anyone gimme a step by step on the easiest way to remove if you've had experience doing so! Thanks!

It sounds more like your transfer case is in neutral. Thats why it grinds when you try park..... The output shaft is still spinning.

Thanks for the input, I'm usually pretty mechanically inclined bit this was different. I wad just told by a mechanic that wad the cause but maybe I should look into the transfer case shift motor? Its electric in the 03 so any idea how I would determine if thats the problem??

Since it sounds like you have a combination of different years, I have no idea how your electronic shifter is connected, but that seems to be a good place to start. I know the ranger/explorer shift motors have had problems.

The motor, trans and all wiring harnesses were dropped directly into the truck. So I have the electronic 4wd.
