Really loud A/C fans outside of truck?
So today was the hottest day I've encountered, since purchasing my '13, FX4, EcoBoost. It was 91 degrees out, which I know isn't THAT hot for some parts of the country.
That said, it's the first time since I've owned my '13, EcoBoost that I needed to use A/C all day. One thing I noticed is that the A/C fans are EXTREMELY loud.
To give you an idea, the noise outside seems louder than an early 6.0 Powerstroke idling, or say even the 7.3 PSD. Sounds like a 747 taking off.
Is this normal or is something wrong with my truck? If I turn the A/C off, the super loud fan turns off, and the low speed fan for what I assume is the radiator keeps on, but is barely heard.
I don't remember the A/C fan being that loud on my previous truck '11, 5.0, XLT, but it had more equipment, and the engine wasn't as quiet as my EcoBoost now, which is almost silent. Anyone else notice really loud A/C fans on their truck?

Not on my 5.0, it sounds like it always does. My co worker used to have a 12 Eco boost and his sounded like a 747. I thought it was just the regular cooling fan on his, but maybe it was the a/c fan. I do live in a part of the country where air conditioning is needed for 11 months and 2 weeks out of the year.

There is no separate A/C cooling fan on these things, just the big suckers right behind the radiator.
Air conditioners function most efficiently with a large volume of air being moved over the condenser. So when you have the A/C on at low speeds the cooling fans will come on. If it was 91° out the system was trying awful hard to cool the cab down, so it likely switched the fans to their highest setting. That's normal.
On my car that's the only thing that can be heard when standing outside with the A/C on.

Hello guys, I used to notice it on my 2011, it was the 6.2L, but it was only noticeable when the AC was really working, usually at initial startup and on a really hot day (everyday around here ) if I was going really slow in traffic. It never lasted very long, once the AC caught up, it would settle down. I now have a F250 with the 6.7 PSD, same thing.

I have the issue and I recently had to recharge the system due to a leaking on the system, but I went to a couple of places and one told me that I need more charge and the other told that The system is overcharged, I really don't know who is rigth on this issue... a third place told me that it's normal the loud sound of the fan but I have my SUV for almost three years and I know what is normal or not in my Explorer... thank for your post, now I'm conviced that is the overcharged that is causing this issue.
