Fuel/air leak after Fuel crossover (FRx) install?

I installed the FRx and it takes much longer to build fuel pressure when turning the key to wait to start (it goes up to about 62psi) than it did before. Every time I look in the fuel bowl, it's about a third full. This leads me to believe that there's a leak somewhere...but I'm not noticing any fuel leaks...

I know this is kinda "other then the shooting mrs Lincoln, how was the play" but other then the possible leak how was the install? I am on the road to adding a chip and would like to add a FRx and possibly HPx before chip shopping.

How many times have you cycled the pump now? It took my truck at least 10 cycles to completely fill the filter housing last time I drained it.

EDIT: I'm not real familiar with how the FRx is set up, but if the fuel has another path besides the FPR port on the housing, it will take even longer to fill it. If the FPR port doesn't have a direct path from the housing and all fuel flows through the heads, the housing may never fill completely unless you fill it yourself.

Pull off the FRx regulator and make sure you got the spring inserted into the pressure regulator shuttle and into the FRx body socket correctly. It may be bypassing a little bit causing the delay.

I'm not sure you have a fuel/air leak. If you did have a leak, pressurized fuel would be coming out if that leak.

I did the FRx a couple of weeks and noticed it take an extra couple of revolutions before the motor fires up.

I'm thinking the return back to the tank and the elimination of the "dead head" is what causes the extra revolution or two.

If it was a leak, you would know and see the fuel spraying out of the effected area.

kefkro: The install almost made me want to throw the towel in and buy a Dodge Caravan...but that was mainly because I have riffraff air plenums and they are much fatter than stock and are in the way of both little fuel test port plugs that you need to remove...so I had to put a screw extractor socket on both and turn them with channel locks, and it worked thank God. Also, for those that have an early 99 you're gonna have to grind your baby butt/exhaust collector to thread one end of the cross over in.

Pikachu: my understanding was once the fuel bowl is full it stays full if there's no leaks...initially i cycled it three times i think. but i will try that. but yeah maybe it won't stay full now.

Ken: I put the black spring in...which riffraff says is the 67-70psi spring. mine is reading around 62...do you think it's necessary to check? I'm just asking cuz it's a pain to do

Jesser: thanks for the info, that makes sense

Where are you getting the pressure reading from? I'd check the spring as well, could be that it's blinded up and causing fuel to leave as fast as it's coming in.

You may look at what your fuel pump is putting out for pressure, do you see fluctuations when heavy on the go pedal? Could be an early indication of a pump going south.

I checked the spring and it was in right. It's running great now guys, starts up pretty quick...maybe an extra crank or two but I' not sure.
My fuel pressure is around 55-60 when cruising and will drop down to 45 when I hammer it. Do you think the fuel pump is getting weak?

It could be the pump, but I'd rule out any restrictions in the tank screens first. Maybe even do the Hutch mod. I have the original pump in my truck and idle is about 58. It only drops to about 53 at WOT.

I would like to do those fuel tank mods, especially before injectors!

I would agree. The FRX install made me want to never wrench again. Lol.
