Your very good, I was wondering how long before someone noticed that.

Its a 32 model b my father purchased in 1955. Its all original except for the 40 ford juice brakes he installed in the 50's

Keep the pictures coming. Thinking about the "lack of power" complaint, it could very well have been the overdrive failing to "kick down", not uncommon. I don't remember the reasons, been too long. Not usually serious, if I remember right.

When we pulled the wagon out of hibernation it was missing the overdrive solenoid and the relay was disconnected. My father said he had taken the solenoid out to put on a 55 wagon.
I found a solenoid on ebay and hooked up the relay. The overdrive is working now.

Picture of first time out under its own power.. notice the pint size fuel tank... my father quickly put that together out stuff he had on hand.

 

You've quite the story. You are fortunate to have a family treasure like that. Also fortunate to be able to give your folks a ride in it. Wishing you the best with it!

 

Thank you very much. I do indeed feel very fortunate to be able spend the time with my parents while working on the wagon they bought when they were 25yrs old and expecting their first child (my older sister).

The goal is to get the wagon operating safely but not to alter it cosmeticly. Its a true surviver vehicle that I would like to show off just like it is.

I've always liked the saying "You can restore it a 100 times but it is only original once!"

A little update,
After a 50 yr hibernation my parents, sister, nephew and I drove the 51 to Santa Cruz for the 20th Woodies on the Wharf, It was about 120 miles round trip. Got to the Wharf at 7am and we were the 109th to arrive... by 10am they had a record of 205 Woodies.
The flathead ran well and I really liked the 3speed with overdrive... very fun to drive. Here are some picture's

Third week in June. Woodies on the Wharf has been going on for 20yrs now.

There is Woodies on the Beach in Santa Barbara in Aug.... I think its on the 17th...that would be closer for you.
