hello any help would be appreciated it and thank you
so the problem started when i was driving my 68 f100 v8 i got home and turn the key off but the truck didt turn off even with the key out of the ignition, i remove the cable out of the coil of the distributor and dove it like that like 2 weeks and now last time i started it was just cranking so i came runing to the engine bay remove the batttery and it stopped cranking, now evry time i put thr possitive port on i see a lot of sparks and engine will crank, does any of you know what the problem is i test the started and its fine im thinking it may be the solenoid but if the experts can give a advice that will be great
2X the solenoid. Rap on it a couple times with a hammer to get it's guts unstuck, start your truck, and go buy a QUALITY (AKA non made in china crap) New one.
Aw popeye we like closure this is what we like to hear on this site. Now your back up & running with little down time great..
Now Happy motoring glad you got her fixed soon..
orich
Glad you got her fixed. I had the engine stays running problem on my 69 and had to pull the wire from the solenoid that feeds the ignition while cranking. Changing the solenoid didn't fix it. The other problem that started later was the ignition would break up at about 4,500 rpm.
After some head scratching I took the alternator to a repair shop to be checked even though it was keeping the battery charged and found the diode bank was bad allowing voltage to back feed to the ignition circuit.
