Courtesy start hiccup?

Boy you know it'd suck if I didn't have that remote start. I'd HAVE to then get the issue fixed asap

PATS does not need the battery in the fob to work. You can get a pats key with no remote on it programmed for the truck. And those do not have batteries on them. Now having multiple PATS keys on the same key ring could be an issue - but I do not think this is the case here. It wasn't in the other reported failures.

That is how I understand the process... There is some checking to make sure the RFID in the key is authorized to start the vehicle in between... An extension of which is the RFID ID that the key fob sends to start the vehicle.

I just remembered something very important.
Back in 2009 my remote start on my 2008 6.4 F250 stopped working, the issue was the little switch that the BCM/ECM uses to confirm that the hood is closed. It went bad and the truck would not remote start.
I just used a jumper wire to bypass the switch. I'm not inclined to think that you have the same issue but it could be something similar.

So just to wrap this up and record it for future generations:
My remote start wouldn't work this morning, and THAT's a serious problem so I finally made time to stop by Autozone and have my duralast's checked.
Passenger side failed, date code 10/12, not even two years old. After some "aggressive conversations" with the store manager (swear I missed my calling, I should've been an attorney/edit: scratch that, I'm too honest) she agreed to swap BOTH of them out, even tho the driver side one passed.
See- they only honor warranty to the original purchaser, which I could 100% understand on otherwise unknown products (starters, brake calipers, whatever) but when I've got a known age (date code sticker) on a known product (who else sells duralast?) I expect the manufacturer to honor their 3yr free replacement warranty, I don't care if the batteries have gone through 64 hands.... Eventually she acquiesced, and I swapped em both in the parking lot just now.
