Looking to buy 2004-2010 F-150
Looking for a truck to buy and wanted to know of any issues with these trucks particularly the 5.4 V8.
We have a 1999 Expedition with over 250,000 miles on it. It has been a good vehicle over all but it blew a spark plug out once before and just did it again. Not looking forward to fixing it. I bought the tool last time it happened so shouldn't cost anything to fix just time and frustration.
Any info or suggestions would be helpful , thinking of looking at 2011 -2012s
with the 5.0 but don't want to spend that much.
Thanks Carl

Even if you stay with the 5.4L engine, that 6 speed trans is a huge improvement. It started in the 2009 model year, and 2009 and 2010's are pretty cheap compared to the 2011's around here. As always, mileage, options and condition are important, but I wouldn't hesitate to pick up a 2010 with the 5.4 if i found one in good shape.
Having owned a couple of trucks with the 4 speed trans, I can say I'd never do it again. The extra gears help out a lot both while towing and unloaded.
If a guy can afford it, both the 5.0L and Ecoboost are good upgrades too, but it sounds like that might be past your price bracket.
