It'd be 1958 or later. Need to post the full VIN and other plate data so one of us can decode it for you. Pictures are very welcome. Use of a Photobucket, Flickr, or other photo storage site makes it easy. Stu

You know, I'm not much of one for these new fangled machines, but that's pretty cool

How do you get in this thing? Use the tire as a step?

I'm also lazy and like to see the pictures in the thread. I view it as a service to those lest computer literate.

I'm not finding anything exactly to match yours. The C70 is obviously a C700. The fourth digit is the engine, "O" is for a Cummins NH-250, but the book says that's in 62/63 and your fifth digit "9" says its a 1959. The sixth digit is production plant but I find no "0" or "O" code. The last five digits are the unique number for your truck. Stu

This VIN is garbled, some of the codes make no sense, please look closely at it again / 11 digit VIN:

The first 3 digits is the serial number: C70 = C700 Tilt Cab.

The 4th digit is a letter. This is the engine code, it's probably either a C (292 2V) or a D (292 4V).

The 5th digit is a number, denotes the year: 7 = 1957; 8 = 1958; 9 = 1959; 0 = 1960.

The 6th digit is a letter, decodes to the specific assembly plant that the truck was assembled at.

Last 5 digits are numbers, decode to the Numerical Sequence of Assembly for the specific year that the truck was assembled.

DATE: 23B = February 23 (1959?).

Only 1958/59/60 C Series came with dual head lamps. 1957 & 1961/86 C Series came with single head lamps.

Pic: Example of Rating Plate, on a C Series, it's riveted to the inside of the glove box door.
