Oil cooler reaction time

Recently pulled my 12,500 lb fifth wheel for first time for long distance. My EOT got up around 224 with my ECT was getting close at 207 by the time I topped a pretty steep incline. When reaching the top my ECT began coming down rapidly and my EOT came down within a couple minutes back to what I call normal. Normal being EOT around 192 and ECT around 182. My question is with the rapid decline back to normal is the oil cooler doing its job or should it have never gotten that far apart. Btw 05 F350 6.0 with egr delete and open turbo back exhaust. Thanks in advance for all comments.

Oil cooler testing is done unloaded @ steady 65.

Towing a fiver up a hill your temps looks good. And the fact the oil cooler followed the ECT shows it's still doing well.

ECT/EOT spread means nothing if climbing, cresting or decending. Engine must be thoroughly heat saturated, 15 to 20 miles highway speed and cruising at 60 to 65 mph. Anything 15 degrees or less is acceptable. Some have been in the 13 degree area for years and the spread didn't change, so don't panic unless your spread is outside of parameters. Real time gauges are a blessing but also lead some to paranoia.

Haha...major paranoid here too with the gauges.
Also just acquired "lifter squeak" paranoia too!
