I have a 06 with a 5.4 and the 4x4 will not work . the switch on the dash when rotated the light on the dash dosen't come on but I hear the transfer case switches "clicking" when I go from 4 wheel to 2 wheel ? I checked the vacume on the hubs and up to the canister and all is good ? is this a switch problem ?? any help is great , Thanks...

 

So you are saying the transfer case does go into 4x4? Have you check fuses as well?

 

sorry I didn't include that , yes I have checked all fuses under the dash and under the hood , all are good.I hear something going in and out on the transfer case / transmision but the truck does not have 4wheel drive ????

 

time to check the switch I think. Verify it has power since you have no light.

Additonally switch to 4 hi and leave the truck in park.

Get under the truck and see if the front drive shaft is locked in. If locked then at least the front hubs have engaged.

If engaged another check is to put in the drive with 4hi selected. Very slowly try to make a turn to verify whether or not 4hi is engaged. It should not want to turn worth a darn.

Note this is hard on the drive line so you don't want to do this very much Just a few feet.

 

put the park brake on and try it in neutral

mine is very difficult to put into 4WD from park...but alwasy goes in from neutral...and almost impossible to put into 4wd while in motion
