around a year ago I had myspark plugs, cam phasers, chains, tensioners, idlers and sensors replaced. Then I had all 4 cats replaced. all parts from dealer except cats and motocraft plugs.
now almost a year later I think I have a broken guide, I can hear something rattling in there. anyhow truck has been running like crap with the ocasional misfire that feels like the tranny messing up, so I had the plugs replaced and when I got it back it ran a little better but still had zero power with a little fuel smell in the cab. as the days go by it just gets worse and worse with a p0345 and p0022. 2 days ago I un plugged the VCT sensors and it runs 85% better.
my question is when they get in there should they replace everything but the phasers since they are only a year old? I will also replace the VCT sensors. Im thinking I should also replace the intake gasket, throttle body gasket and valve cover gaskets. what else should be replaced while they are in there? I would rather spend a little extra now while its torn apart and wait until later. It just runs so bad, I want to get another 60,000 miles out of it.
I took it back to the mechanic and he replaced one chain, tensioners (one was broke), guides and both VCT sensors. the truck has power and runs better and is quiet but it still idles a little rough, I know the idle isnt normal but Im not sure what else it could be. vacuum leak some place? intake gasket? MAF? Im at a loss here
