towing with my 5.4 you all hate

Of course it is!
It has a much better designed and built transmission than Ford could ever dream of in 1996.
It also has a 3 valve gas engine that with some proper tuning can do some amazing things, but you already knew that.

Yes sir. My superchips tuner was the best thing I ever bought for my truck but a custom tune would be amazing.

I've thought about it but it us hard to justify spending another $400 when I already have a tuner. One thing I don't understand or like is my trucks throttle only goes to 76% at WOT. Maybe a custom tune could help that.
Also when in park or neutral I can only rev to 3000rpm and 16% throttle. I'm guessing that has to do with a PTO provision. I would love to be able to hear my exhaust all the way up

Mine never gave me that kind of performance. It was however a 3.73 geared truck. I really only got rid of it due to corrosion and other issues such as future large repairs and intermittent engine problems. Not necessarily a performance driven decision..........but the V10 is great too.
I would buy another 5.4 truck for a work truck as guys would be less likely to beat on a lowly V8 truck vs a V10 or Diesel. Wait, who am I kidding the truck would probably be destroyed by workers in a years time.

The 5.4 has come along ways from my Expy's 230 hp/320 lbs of torque, to your 300/365.
I had real challenges pulling a 10k trailer with 3.73's and my manual second gear, was my best friend on most inclines, running between 47-53 mph.
Watching you climb with that weight, it's hard to believe that's a 7% incline from my past 5.4 towing. Either big improvements as mentioned, or maybe, you supercharged that guy?
Pretty amazing difference.

I've towed 10k quite a bit and didn't have many issues.
The truck is stock except for a drop in filter, 40 series flowmaster with dual 2.5" out, tb spacer, and superchips tuner set to economy mode. I have 3.73 gears and 35" tires

Having towed the same trailers with a 5.4, 460 and 7.3 I would take the 5.4 over either of them. My 7.3 got better mpgs and downshifted less, but as far as pulling power went the 5.4 would walk off and leave it.

I've been telling people that for years and I always get the same dumb lol along with some stupid comment about how I don't know what I'm talking about

And it doesn't matter that you owned both trucks at the same time, pulled the same trailers on the same trips, you still don't know what you are are talking about. The 460 was a beast back in the day and people got in the mindset that it would pull a house, but if it was offered today it would be the entry level engine. But they think the entry level 5.4 is good for nothing but getting groceries or pulling a lawn mower, even though it has more power and a wider tq curve than that 460. The 460 may have 390 peak tq compared to 365 for the 5.4, but it drops off very quickly and by 4,500 rpm the 460 is down to 280 tq and by 5,000 rpm the 5.4 is still making 320 tq for the 3v and 305 tq at 4,500 for the 2v.
