Had a dumb question. my 6.0 takes longer to crank when its cold whether it is 40 or 70 (our weather here has been bouncing from one extreme to another lately) take about 20 seconds to fire but when it starts it is smooth no misses or anything.
What year model? Are you running OEM filter and oil cap? What weight oil? Have you code scanned the truck to see if you have a glow plug problem? Have you tried waiting 30 seconds after the wait to start light goes out before starting the truck? Also, check the FICM voltage to see that it's correct and have a charging system test run. Load test the batteries separately.

You need a set of gauges that read live data like the scan gauge II or one of the smartphone apps like Dashboss for IOS devices or torque pro for android. It may be your FICM as FICM problems usually rear their ugly head on cold starts, there is a FICM test procedure in the tech folder at the top of this forum that shows you how to test your FICM voltage with a volt meter, here is a link to the tech folder, https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/3...ch-folder.html
Yes it has OEM filter an cap, has motorcraft 15W-40 in it, batteries are maybe 6 months old (motorcraft) had them tested the other day while they were out of the truck, charging system checks out ok, have tried waiting prolly 20 seconds after the WTS light went out, i might try an wait longer, will have to look at checking the ficm.
My thinking with the sitting level question was that maybe the HPO reservoir was bleeding down through the pump, because it sounds to me like you're having to "charge" the HPO system to get the injectors to fire. Just a guess on my part though.
You're really going to need something to monitor live data to diagnose this problem. Torque Pro, Dash Boss, Scangauge II, Auto Enginuity, Edge CTS, will all help in that area.
Ok I tried waiting about 45 seconds after the wait to start light went out before I started it and it started right on up, so maybe glow plugs are on there way out?

If you have a glow plug problem it should throw a CEL but may only throw a code and not set the CEL. Any major parts store can scan it to see.
ok I read the live data off of the truck when I got home from work so here it is some of it might be useless but im putting it all down, just need a little help decoding some of the info. thanks sam

This is the single most prominent error people make when they cant start it cold. 45 seconds is normal for 30-40 degrees. 1.5 minutes may be needed up north when its below 0.
This is normal and doesn't sound like you have GP issues.
