Oil pressure gauge and psi should be seen

I have a 1990 f350 with a 460. Last time I drove my truck I noticed my oil pressure was running slightly lower than it normally does. I constantly runs on dead center of the "NORMAL" gauge. It is now running on the "N" on the gauge the oil level is perfect. I am in the process of installing a set of autometer gauges to see the actual psi reading. What numbers should I see on those gauges? Should I start with an easy stock oil pressure switch change and see what it say on the stock gauge? Any input would be greatly apperiacated.
Thanks
Nick

Stock gauge is worthless junk and should be ignored.

15 -30 psi warm idle is acceptable. I'd expect 30-50 PSI warm cruise.

I'm thinking that you have a bad oil sending unit. You can replace that or just install a manual gauge .A manual gauge will give you a accurate reading and peace of Mind.

Or convert the stock gauge into a working one.

Not as accurate as an aftermarket gauge, but better than the dummy gauge you have now.

I bought a mechanical gauge from the local auto parts store and once I opened it, I immediately returned it. Mine came with a nylon tube to be used as the oil supply and the gauge itself was crap. I ended up going to a local hydraulic supply store where they made me a hose and I bought a gauge to go with it. I would hate to have had that nylon tube melt or get gut on something and then the pressure would dump.

My truck is a much different setup than yours but I run about 50-60 psi. of oil pressure.
