ZF6 guys - kevlar bushing or input shaft repair kit from Dieselsite?

I've got my new South Bend clutch/flywheel kit on the way. It comes with a new kevlar pilot bushing (and HD throwout bearing). I've heard several people recommend Dieselsite's Input Shaft Repair Kit. Which way should I go? I'd love to hear some replies from people with miles on them. Thanks.

the real question is what does your input shaft look like? with a brand new pilot bearing the input shaft should be looking good as well. also be sure to top off the trans from the shift lever housing when filling it with ATF

I just put a clutch in my Truck and instead of using the Kevlar i oped for diesel sites input bearing. The Kevlar one that was in there was shot after about 5 years of use.

Thanks Richard, that's the kind of long-term use info I'm looking for! As for the state of my input shaft, I won't know until it's dropped. But, South Bend says the kevlar can run on a scored shaft. I'm leaning towards the Dieselsite sleeve/larger bearing - but the issue is, it's still a needle bearing (though larger).

Does anyone have any info on the 6.0 bearing? I'll be doing the clutch with a machinist, in a full engine machine shop, so this would be the time.

I have a worn input shaft on my zf6 and went with the Dorman 690-039 pilot bushing. Works great & the price is great. No needle bearings & no kevlar.

Thanks Devon. After more research on the forums, the Kevlar bushing doesn't last long. And I'd really rather not have another needle bearing. That Dorman bushing sounds like the best fix. And it's $4!
