Hi I am new to the site and I have a question for you fellow v-10 owners,
im not sure if there is another thread about this I couldnt find anthing so bear with me...
so I am looking to buy a brand new ford f 450 dump 4x4 with 4.88 gears,
Im a landscaper and carry a 7x14' box trailer and mulch/misc materials
I was wondering if you guys would have an idea ruffly on what it would be getting for mpg around town I live in mass so there isn't much hilly terrain. I have heard a lot of different answers from people I do realize its a "v-10" but I figured maybe I would throw it out here for some extra imput from owners!

Your looking at about 8 mpg

 

10 empty, 6-7 loaded (empty one way, loaded the other) and <4 plowing.

 

I replied to your thread in the super duty section and agree with the statements made. It's a great engine with a great track record. It just likes fuel. If I had the work to justify it there is a new F550 4x4 dump around my area for $43k that I would trade for.

You can't get more work without more truck. You should get it.

 

Ha. Couldn't swing the payment at this time and then needing to get my CDL to pull that dump trailer too! If for some reason my marketing works really well I'd make a trip out to see if they'd go cheaper. Although I'd honestly just get a used one and buy a piece of equipment. Equipment makes jobs easier and more efficient.


But it is tempting!

 

Those dang money trees need to grow faster! Haha
