The 5.14/1 was the standard ratio, and 5.83/1 the optional ratio. On my Dana 70HD the axle had flat faced perches that worked with lower saddles to secure the 4" tubes to the springs. The stock springs would work fine. There probably would be need to grind small notches on the impeding side of each perch to allow the hangers to sneak past without bending them. Stu
