Shane, I'll fill my pockets with a little "fertilizer" for you when I come down to Ohio. Not sure if anyone will want to be around me though although my wife will feel right at home.

Tell that guy to drop me a line about 6.0s. I don't have nearly as much experience as you other guys have with them but I think I have enough to form an opinion. I've even talked to non-truck guys about them and I was amazed the engines' reputation spreads pretty far. My nephew's truck has the 6.0 in it, the one my son drove to IA. My nephew says he got a great deal on it, a lot less than Blue Book value. I just think the reputation just scares people away. He had to pull the cab to do some work on it. He's a mechanic by trade and says the improvements he did to the engine should take care of the issues. I don't know enough to be able to say he has or not.

I thank your nephew for letting Andy use his truck to come to are rescue. But as soon as I say it and as soon as Andy tried to pull my trailer I know that if we tried to drive that truck at highway speeds pulling my trailer it would of been died by the time we hit the Mississippi . I bought my truck brand new 8. Years ago and the cost back then was $58,000 and I have spent more than $ 25,000 keeping that sh*# box going! I have done the changes your nephew has done and then some.... He got a good deal on it but in the long run take it from someone that knows... The 6.0 is a big piece of junk!!!!

Chris, I wasn't saying there is a fix for the 6.0, I just said my nephew thought he had it covered. He's pretty proud of his truck and most likely is fooling himself that it's OK. From what I've heard from quite a few people there isn't a fix that will make the ill fated 6.0 better. I just can't get over how Ford used this motor for so long and that there wasn't a lawyer out there that organized a class law suit over them.

Can a newer, or better older, engine be transplanted into one of the affected trucks? I have absolutely no clue about these engines, just what others have told me.

I think the main issue is everyone keeps thinking they need MORE power. The International version of the 6.0 was 170-230 hp (depending on application) and Ford upped to 325 hp to stay in the HP game. Then lots of people slapped tuners on them with no regard to the consequences.

I see a bunch of young guys that work for the oil fields come through the shop wanting exhaust for their "600hp" diesels. Heard lots of stories about blown engines.

Everything has a limit of what it can take. Even a flatty won't be happy pushing 300hp. Just not a good time for diesel engines with hp wars and emission standards going up.

When I was at the shop that did my flathead, the owner was on the phone with the owner of a Cummins head that was next to the counter. It wasn't good news. Just like you said, he'd jacked up the boost, and the result was 4 cracked combustion chambers. The owner told me he was getting a steady stream of diesels that were irreparably damaged from from overworking them, over-boosting them, and neglecting them.

There is and there will be law suits In regardeds to the 6.0
I have been contacted by ford and they are willing to pay for parts out in the truck from the past repairs put it is a joke the money they what to give you back and once you take anything from them, that will keep you from being able to join any law suites class action suits in the future.

Well boys ... Looks like Bob is heading down to my house this morning and I am on my way to pick up my new tow vehicle at the local dealer . If all goes well Bob and I should be able to go pick up the trucks and my trailer in Iowa today.
Please everybody say a prayer for us. I need to get this trip wrapped up!

Is there a saint for injectors? I've always understood that St. Anthony was partial to lost causes - maybe that's the one. Somebody light a candle.
