Ford's "new" oil recommendations

I have been running Motorcraft 5W30 oil and a Motorcraft FL-1A in my 1985 Ford F150 year round since 2011. I live in the deep South where temperatures consistently reach triple digits in the Summer. I even run a 195 thermostat. That is what my engine re-builder recommended (ASE certified mechanic), so that is what I used.
