Any good shop recommendations? Long Beach/OC

My '07 F150 has been making a ticking sound lately, starting to think maybe it's the cam phasers. I know I can take it to the dealership, but want to know if anybody here knows a good trustworthy shop that won't screw me over...too much lol. I know the repair can be pricey, so I'm ready for that.

Can't offer you too much other than a thread bump, Gary. I know a great shop out in Chino, but that might be further than you want to go.

Thanks for the bump, Steve. I think I found a shop in Huntington Beach that lots of folks have said good things about. There are so many causes of the ticking on the 5.4 3V motors that I'm hoping to find a good honest assessment. Crossing my fingers the shop in HB pans out.

I wasn't going to say anything but since you mentioned you're willing to go to HB, I do have a mechanic that my family has been going to for thirty years. He's not cheap, but it gets fixed right the first time if you know what I mean.

Look for a pm.

Thanks, Karl. Yeah, HB isn't too far of a drive. Just trying to finish up and get the trans back into my '86 Mustang GT so I have a driver while the truck goes to the shop.

Thanks, Karl. I got your PM, I think I might give him a try. Sounds like a standup guy.

Old thread alert, but there is a reason.

If you have a recommendation, seems a huge blessing to all that follow to actually put them into the thread. PM'ing is awesome for things that are best offline, but good shops are hard to find and deserve to be talked about in my opinion.

I am in the same areas as OP but was looking for a diesel mechanic and found this post...

:-)

Maybe too late to help but I've used Advanced Diesel in San Pedro with good results.
Mike is the owner and very helpful. 310-519-9040 at Gaffey and 11th St.
