New to me 2008 Navigator from NC

Hey guys,

I bought this 2008 Navigator L last week and thought I'd see what was out there on a forum or two that I could learn about it. It's got 89k miles, 2WD, the Elite package, heavy duty transmission cooler and radiator, most of the bells and whistles so far as I can tell, and is a bit rough around the edges cosmetically but everything functions fine. I bought it because I need something to tow my Porsche or whatever other car I or a friend might need lugged around, but as I won't be towing heavy loads too terribly often so I figured I could spring for something a little nicer than your standard tow vehicle. I love it! I've driven it 800 miles already and it's as comfortable a highway cruiser as I could hope for it to be. I'm hoping to learn a few things here and get some help if I need it.

I'm aware of the spark plug issues that these motors have (breaking off while changing and sometimes blowing out). Is there anything you can do to prevent the plugs from breaking during removal or to help decrease the chances of one blowing out? Any other issues I should be aware of and look into soon?

Thanks,
Robert

You are beyond the MY for blow out I believe. They added threads to the head to correct that.

That's one of the reasons I bought it- Elite package, extended wheelbase, tow package...yet still missing that horrible chrome along the bottom of the doors.
