If the power is out how do we know the light bulb (lightbulb, lite bulb, litebulb) needs to be changed?

I spent a lot of my AF carrer in and out of the Dayton area - It took quite awhile before I stopped speaking Ohia thereby having chngd lot of la~t bubs
