What I'm wanting to do is buy the switch but make it so it acts as a solenoid shutoff switch and hide it in the truck somewhere.
Hide it by mounting it where it's supposed to be. It's been decades since I saw one but as I recall it says "emergency" on it. What theif would guess it's actually a cut-off switch?

What theif thinks a hazard switch would be in the glove box? My box door won't open though, and I have no actual box inside if you do manage to open it. It'll be in that general area though.

The glove box latch is attached to the door with two phillips screws. With no box in there you should be able to reach up and loosen the screws.
looks right, thanks, any thoughts on this not being connected having an effect on brake lights, etc?
If you mean Mike's pic in post #2 that's the neutral safety switch. Makes it so you have to have the A/T in PARK or NEUTRAL. It also sends power to the back-up lights. Nothing to do with tail lights or brake lights.
